History Today | 20/01/2015: The First Roller Coaster in the world



LaMarcus Adna Thompson is one of the mechanic, inventor, and businessman who developed some of the sled that utilize the power of gravity, or what we now call the roller coaster.


Roller Coaster is a game that is driven at high speed on a special rail, superbly situated on the ground that have different heights. This rail was supported by steel and arranged in such a manner. The discovery was initiated by Thompson.

In 1884, Thompson managed to make his first Roller Coaster after trying to make as many as 50 Roller Coaster in America and in Europe. Roller Coaster first named Scenic Railway which utilizes the phenomenon in the laws of physics, such as potential energy, kinetic energy, dynamics, gravity, conservation of energy, and the centripetal force.

The roller coaster was officially patented on January 20, 1885. This vehicle was the first time in Disney Land, United States.
