A prisoner who escaped from a prison in the state of New York has been shot dead by police on Friday (26/6).
Governor of the state of New York, Andrew Cuomo said on Friday (26/6) that the prisoner who was jailed for murder, Richard Matt, was shot dead by police after a resident complained of by the sound of gunfire in a wagon camp in Malone, New York. He said the border police came by helicopter to the area and the smell of gunpowder nearby.
Cuomo said authorities do not know exactly where the other prisoners who also escaped. It is unknown whether the prisoner David Sweat with Richard Matt at the time of the shooting.
