When sitting in A&E for hours on end, you’ll probably see a few characters. Whether that be Betty screaming in reception with a bad toe, or Geoff missing his appointment because he was too busy browsing the vending machine. But what you’re less likely to see is a woman with a python stuck in her earlobe… But that is exactly what happened last week, when Ashley Glawe walked into a hospital in Portland, Oregon, with Bart the snake. The reptile-lover found herself in a bit of trouble after the Ball Python decided that her gauged earlobe would be a great slithering route. Initially, she said the moment was funny. However Bart soon became wedged – after clearly, he ate too many mice. While waiting for a doctor to remove the snake, Ashley uploaded a photo to Facebook. The post has now been shared more than 500 times. Luckily for Ashley, doctors were pretty quick at coming up with a solution. She added: ‘They numbed up my ear and used string to pull and stretch it out more so that they could get him out without hurting him.’ Well, that’s OK then. | Metro News

Woman gets shouted at, pushed and kicked viciously by 2 females during heated dispute at Orchard Towers Stomper Ako alerted Stomp to a video posted on Facebook showing a woman getting verbally and physically assaulted by two other women. According to the Stomper, the incident took place outside a disco at Orchard Towers on Saturday (Jan 29). The beginning of the video shows a woman in a grey top lying on the floor as two other women dressed in black outfits were shouting at her. One of the women then pushes her victim in the face and pulls her arm. The same woman then gave her a kick in her abdomen. The latter was able to get up, and started pointing at one of the women who confronted her. She was subsequently given a hard push and fell to the floor. The victim can be heard screaming 'I never push you' several times while gesturing at her attackers as she sat up. Towards the end of the video, she was given another hard kick in the chest by the woman who first attacked her. The victim got back up into a kneeling position straightaway and continued shouting 'I never push you'. It is unclear what led to the dispute and what happened thereafter. The video has garnered more than 1,500 views since it was posted on Facebook on Jan 29. | Stomp

This in the incredible moment a mother kicks her toddler daughter to safety – moments before she is crushed by a lift. The three-year-old girl wandered towards the open elevator but paused in the path of the doors to turn round and call for her mum. The doors – which had no sensors – begin closing on her as her frantic mum runs over screaming. The woman shows lightning fast reflexes to hook her daughter away with a swift right kick that sends her falling backwards away from danger. CCTV footage of the dramatic near-miss from the Sunny Point complex in Batu Uban, Malaysia went viral after it was shared online in a community group. Mo Adib, a guard from the apartment block, said: ‘The lift had no sensors. There’s only a button on the inside to hold doors open. ‘The girl was very lucky. It was very close to her being trapped in the doors. The mum was very quick and showed her wisdom to keep cool and kick her daughter away.’ Mo said the woman had been visiting the housing block at the time and was not a resident. He added: ‘She told us about what had happened and we looked back on the cameras. ‘Parents should remember to be careful when they have children near lifts.’ | Metro News

Google Doodle Today: Fred Korematsu's 98th Birthday


Today Google’s US homepage is celebrating Fred Toyosaburo Korematsu, civil rights activist and survivor of the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II. January 30th, 2017 would have been his 98th birthday and is officially recognized as Fred Korematsu Day in California, Hawaii, Virginia and Florida. A son of Japanese immigrant parents, Korematsu was born and raised in Oakland, California. After the U.S. entered WWII, he tried to enlist in the U.S. National Guard and Coast Guard, but was turned away due to his ethnicity. He was 22 years old and working as a foreman in his hometown when Executive Order 9066 was signed in 1942 by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The order sent more than 115,000 people of Japanese descent living in the United States to incarceration. Rather than voluntarily relocate to an internment camp, Korematsu went into hiding. He was arrested in 1942 and despite the help of organizations like ACLU, his conviction was upheld in the landmark Supreme Court case of Korematsu v. United States. Consequently, he and his family were sent to the the Central Utah War Relocation Center at Topaz, Utah until the end of WWII in 1945. It wasn’t until 1976 that President Gerald Ford formally ended Executive Order 9066 and apologized for the internment, stating "We now know what we should have known then — not only was that evacuation wrong but Japanese-Americans were and are loyal Americans.” Fred Korematsu’s conviction was overturned in 1983 after evidence came to light that disputed the necessity of the internment. Five years later President Ronald Reagan signed the The Civil Liberties Act of 1988 citing "racial prejudice, wartime hysteria and a lack of political leadership" as the central motivation for Japanese internment. In 1998, President Bill Clinton awarded Korematsu with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the country’s most distinguished civilian award. Fred Korematsu can be remembered fighting for civil rights and against prejudice throughout his life, famously saying: "If you have the feeling that something is wrong, don't be afraid to speak up." The doodle by artist Sophie Diao–herself a child of Asian immigrants–features a patriotic portrait of Korematsu wearing his Presidential Medal of Freedom, a scene of the internment camps to his back, surrounded by cherry blossoms, flowers that have come to be symbols of peace and friendship between the US and Japan.

British man shot in head by assassin at Pattaya beach resort


A 39-year-old British man in Pattaya, Thailand was killed after getting shot in the head on Jan 24, at around 9am (10am Singapore time). The assassination occurred just as the victim, identified as Tony Kenway, was leaving a gym in a Thai beach resort and getting into his red Porsche. According to AFP via AsiaOne, the assassin fired a single shot into his victim's head before making his getaway. "He was shot once in his head, the bullet casing was a .38 calibre," said police. Security footage of the murder shows a man in dark clothing walking up to the victim's car, opening the door and firing a shot, before jumping on a parked moped and fleeing. | Stomp

The bizarre sight could be seen over the Duved ski resort in Sweden earlier this week and many stopped on the mountain to take photographs. Nature photographer Sara Björkebaum spotted the cloud and uploaded a picture of it to her Instagram page, 'bbaumish'. Ms Björkebaum, from Sweden, wrote: 'Weird weather, cool clouds. I think I may jump on that spaceship.' Experts have said that it was a 'lenticular cloud', which typically form over mountain peaks. Shocking moment a pick-up truck crashes THROUGH a bus in New York hitting passengers who remarkably walk away largely unscathed --- Video caught the horrifying moment passengers watched as a pick-up truck speeds into their bus. Eight people were injured on the Centro bus but miraculously, no one was fatally hurt. Herbert Barry, 60, suffered a broken leg and hand injury according to Syracuse.com. The truck driver's wife was also taken to the hospital. The footage from Syracuse, New York was filmed on the bus security cameras on Thursday, January 19. The truck driver, Neil Brownell, accidentally slammed on the gas instead of the brakes. Then, he blasted past a 'for sale' sign and into the bus. From the inside, a woman watches the truck hurl into the bus and clutches her head in terror. A man also sees the truck and leaps out of the way as it crashes through where he was sitting. Bus driver Daphne Ross-Powell asks her astounded passengers: 'Alright? Is everybody alright? Hold on. Hold on.' From another angle, a shocked man watches the truck plow through the bus's side. He then exits the bus bu kicking the side door and jumping out. Passengers are seen in the video trying to manauver their way around the mangled wreckage. Man arrested for attempted suicide: Video shows him jumping from Blk 903 Tampines Ave 4, but saved by SCDF life-pak --- Stomper A alerted Stomp to a video that is currently being circulated on Facebook, showing a man hanging on a ledge outside the windows of a HDB unit, before plunging down and landing on a life-pak inflated by the SCDF below. The incident reportedly happened yesterday (Jan 27) at around 2.30pm and the subject is understood to be a Malay man in his thirties. Stomp has reached out to Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) regarding the incident and their official statement reads: “SCDF received a call for assistance at around 3.00pm yesterday (Jan 27). “Two fire engines, two fire bikes, one ambulance and two support vehicles were dispatched. “A Malay man in his thirties had locked himself inside one of then bedrooms of the HDB unit. “SCDF set up a life-pak on the ground floor directly below the bedroom window. “The subject fell while SCDF was setting up a rescue net from the unit above and he landed on the fully inflated life-pak. “The subject was assessed by the paramedics at scene and was subsequently conveyed to the Changi General Hospital (CGH). “He was unconscious.” The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has also issued an official statement, saying that on Jan 27, 2017, they were alerted to a case of attempted suicide at Block 903, Tampines Avenue 4. ‘Desperate’ man speeds car at 100mph over side of bridge


Footage has emerged of a man driving his car at 100mph off the side of the Humber Bridge. After Jonathan Dent, 32, crashed through the barriers his car landed on the footpath, narrowly avoiding the water. He had to be cut from the mangled wreckage of the vehicle, and suffered a number of injuries. Grimsby Crown Court heard that the crash caused £11,000 worth of damage to the bridge, and put members of the public ‘at severe risk’. Dent had reportedly been having issues in his personal life at the time, and had driven his Misubishi L200 4×4 into the barriers deliberately – although it had not been planned. Dent then drove towards the Humber Bridge instead, thinking a drive would help to calm him down. When asked by police why he had driven over the side of the bridge, he replied: ‘I don’t know, I had probably just had enough.’ Dent admitted dangerous driving, and was sentenced to three months in prison, suspended for two years. He was also disqualified from driving for three years. Sentencing him, Recorder Bryan Cox QC said a prison sentence was ‘justified’ but, given the circumstances, ‘not appropriate’. | Metro News

Camelot Theme Park in Lancashire, England, opened its doors to the public in 1983. Since 2013 however, it has been left abandoned. London based photographer Andre Govia recently made a trip to the place to have a look at its present state, reported Acid Cow. The park was now nothing like the place of fun it used to be.
