According to resource the CDR the info, the Samsung has decided to abandon plans for the company's division into two parts, and instead intends to focus on the promotion of new flagship smartphones Galaxy S8, which will be presented on Wednesday, March 29th. The decision was taken last Friday at the annual general meeting of shareholders.
After Galaxy Note7 fiasco a few major shareholders has proposed to divide the Samsung Electronics in the holding and management company. Then it was reported that by this step the company will be able to significantly improve the internal structure and improve efficiency.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice-President and CEO of Samsung Electronics Kwon Oh-hyun said that after careful consideration of all legal and tax aspects of the issue the board found "some of the negative consequences of" separation. As noted, the various groups of Samsung's business units are closely linked. More specifically, the company's own shares in each other, which allows the Lee family to control the entire business empire. At the same time, a new Committee for management of the company's activities will be established by the end of April this year, as promised earlier.
