Xinjiang - As in previous years, the Chinese government to curb freedom of worship of Muslims in Xinjiang in the month of Ramadan this time. Even this year, Muslim civil servants in the region have to swear and make a written statement would not be fasting.



Reuters reported on Tuesday (16/5), in recent days the government and media websites mouthpiece of the Communist Party in Xinjiang has issued an edict that ordered all party members, civil servants, students and teachers do not worship Ramadan.

The Maralbexi region, Xinjiang, one of them, civil servants and party members must be sworn orally and in writing containing assurances "they do not have confidence, will not attend religious activities and encourage people not to fast during Ramadan."

Jinghe which borders Kazakhstan, Xinjiang food agency officials said last week they would "encourage and guide" kosher restaurant to stay open and operate normally during Ramadan, as quoted from government websites.

Decided to open a restaurant that would not be too often visited by supervision of food.

This action is estimated instead will increasingly lead to clashes and violence by separatist groups in Xinjiang.

"China's increasing restrictions and surveillance ahead of Ramadan. Confidence politicized Uighurs and China's actions to increase the resistance," said Dilxat Raxit, spokesman for the exiled Uighur, the World Uighur Congress, said in a statement.

Xinjiang government spokesman did not pick up the phone to Reuters to confirm. But before the government denies restraint, although justify civil servants and citizens under 18 are prohibited to fast and participate in religious activities.

There are as many as 20 million Muslims across China, most of whom are Uighurs, Turkic-speaking tribes in Xinjiang. (CNN Indonesia)
