A study published in the journal Human Reproduction revealed that women who consumed more than 1,5 servings per day of sugary drinks tend to menstruate the first three months sooner than those who only eat at least two servings per week.

Furthermore, a study involving 6,000 women from 50 states of the United States also revealed that started earlier periods is also associated with an increased risk of breast cancer later in life. Those who experienced a period one year earlier and even potentially five percent more likely to suffer from breast cancer.

Meanwhile, excessive caffeine consumption has also been implicated as a trigger menstruation earlier. However, the researchers found that the sugar is added to the drink had been the culprit, not the sugar that is contained in a drink. Dr Ken Ong also stated that the entire team's findings were statistically significant.

The surprising thing here is the claim that the relationship does not depend on the size of childhood, namely, that there is a more direct effect of sweetened beverages during puberty. It was unexpected, said the academics University of Cambridge, as quoted by The Irish Times.
