ASUS ROG GX501: Laptop for gaming with original designs 1080 GTX and Intel Kaby Lake (photos)

ASUS

ASUS ROG GX501 is a gaming laptop from totally unbalanced , both in form and in the technical sector. In fact, in addition to offering the best that you can find on the square when it comes to hardware, the design of the new laptop ASUS distorts the classical canons of modern laptops.

The new GX501 is very solid and attractive on the outside, but it is by opening the lid you discover its true nature: the upper part houses a 15.6-inch display IPS resolution 4K Ultra HD (3,840 x 2,160 pixels ) with support Nvidia G-Sync , while the lower part appears completely reversed, with the keyboard all moved downwards and the upper part is completely empty .

As you can see from the pictures in the gallery, is not this a wrist rest or a lower touchpad, but only a small part integrated to the right of the keyboard itself capable of performing the functions of pointer or numeric keypad if necessary. A choice absolutely original , but it certainly looks sensible thinking about the target to which it is addressed this notebook and the need to maximize the interior space under the hood.

Although the machine is fairly small in size , with a thickness of only 16.65 mm , do not let that fool you: inside the GX501 you can find absolute level components. The handset is available in various configurations, and as for the CPU you can choose between the new Intel Kaby Lake-H (Core or Core i7-7700HQ i7-7820HK) and an Intel Skylake-H of the previous generation. The RAM can be up to 24 GB DDR4 , while the internal memory is provided for support for NVMe SSD PCIe x4 .

But we come to the highlight of this device, or the graphic industry, represented by a Nvidia GeForce 1080 GTX mobile version with a 256-bit memory interface and 8 GB of memory GDDR5X . The specifications of this monster of power provide GP104 core, 150W TDP, 2560 CUDA cores and frequencies of 1607/1733 MHz.

The new ASUS gaming laptop will be officially unveiled at CES 2017 departing Jan. 5, and only then can we discover the rest of the technical characteristics and especially the price that given the internal components, it will not be of some low. We expect big bucks, but justified by a general quality which is announced at the top of the industry. | smartworld
