Father almost died when he swallowed a RAZOR blade he says was in a slice of toast

Incredible x-ray reveals how a father swallowed a RAZOR blade he claims was hidden in a slice of toast *** A father is demanding compensation after swallowing a razor blade which he claims was inside a slice of bread. Chef John Williamson, 23, said he is lucky to be alive after the terrifying ordeal. He was rushed to hospital fearing for his life after realising he'd swallowed a portion of the blade when he made toast for his young family. X-ray scans showed the blade at the top of his stomach and John was admitted for observation before eventually passing it through his system five days later. Bakers Warburtons said they are aware of the claims and are investigating. Mother Rachel, 29, was having breakfast with the family at their home in Bacup, Lancashire on August 25 when John suddenly dropped his toast and began shouting at her to stop eating. John ran into the kitchen to swill his mouth out while Rachel called for medical advice. But while she was on hold John turned white and began clutching his chest and in pain. He was rushed to Blackburn Royal Hospital while terrified Rachel and their daughter Ava, 19 months, followed behind in the car. An urgent X-ray showed the blade was in his stomach. He was told he was lucky the blade had not sliced open his throat or stomach which could have been fatal. John was admitted for observation and after more X-rays doctors felt confident he could pass the blade naturally without needing surgery. Finally on Monday – five days after eating it – John passed the blade and a follow up X-ray confirmed it was gone. Warburtons have confirmed they are aware of the claim and have written to the couple. A spokesman said: 'Product safety and quality is of paramount importance to Warburtons and our standards of food safety and hygiene are excellent. 'Having conducted an investigation, we are confident that the blade is highly unlikely to have been in the loaf. However, we are still awaiting the opportunity to inspect it, at which point we can conclude our investigation.' | DailyMail
