Facebook Officially Announces Cheap Internet

New Delhi - Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Monday (04/05/2015), said it would give an opportunity to the website and online services to join the scheme 'cheap internet' internet.org. This announcement follows criticism that happened to this initiative.


Opponents claimed it would violate the neutrality of the Internet, because it will give priority access to certain websites and app alone.

In New Delhi, India, activists have questioned this offer, as well as the wider internet neutrality. Zuckerberg himself stated that offered all over the internet for free that 'can not be sustainable ".

"It takes tens of billions of dollars each year to run the Internet, and no operator could do that, if everything is free," he said in the video that he put on the site internet.org.

"But it is possible to build a free basic service that is simpler and uses very little of data on mobile phones are cheap," he said again.

Quoting BBC, internet.org allow subscribers of phone operators their partners to use the online service at no additional cost.

Since 2014, this project has been launched in Zambia, India, Colombia, Guatemala, Tanzania, Kenya, Ghana, the Philippines and Indonesia.
