Already a mummy, monks in Mongolia is believed to be 'not dead'

The findings of the mummy of a Buddhist monk in Mongolia last week made a surprised many people. The local Buddhist monk even sure yet died.



Local leaders say Buddhists monks found in the lotus position meditating and not died.

Forensic research is being conducted on the bodies of monks were found wrapped in cowhide in the central Mongolia.

Scientists do not yet know how the condition of the monk's body remains intact, although there is speculation that the cold air in Mongolia could be the cause.

But Dr. Barry Kerzin, a physician confidence Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama, told the Times that the Siberian monk in a state of rare meditation called "tukdam."

"If someone who meditate can continue in a state of meditation, he can become a Buddha," said Kerzin.

The monk was found after it was stolen by someone who wants to sell it on the black market mummy.

Mongolian police have arrested the culprit and monks are now kept at the National Centre of Forensic Expert.

The identity of the monk is not clear, although there is a suspicion that he was a teacher of the old Dashi-Dorzho Itigilov were also found to have become a mummy.

In 1927, Itigilov of Buryatia region in the former Soviet Union, is believed to be told his disciples that he would die and they had to dig up his body after 30 years.

The monk then sitting in the lotus position, meditating and died.

When the tomb was dug up, according to the legend remains intact.

Fearing for the intervention of the Soviet, his re-bury it and he remained there until 2002 when he dug up again and remained in its original condition.

The monk then placed in a Buddhist temple and worshiped forever.
