History Today | 18/1/2015: Captain Cook



James Cook was born in Middelsbrough, England, in October 27 1728. His name became known to many people as he followed the sea exploration race between the nations of Europe.



In a book by Allan Villiers (1967), Cook began life as a sailor as a teenager and later joined the British Navy, then became captain. His name was eventually known as Captain Cook, with his ship named Endeavor. During his life he has been around the world 3 times.

On the third voyage on January 18, 1778, he first arrived in Hawaii. From this Cook managed to make the main coast lines and make maps. Unfortunately, this third trip into the last trip Cook, because he was killed as a result of conflict with the locals.
