10 Countries with The Highest Cases of Modern Slavery



A recent report stated that there are currently about 35,8 million men, women, and children around the world who are still trapped in modern slavery. More surprised again is 71% of which are located in just 10 countries.


Walk Free Foundation, a few moments ago has published a report entitled The 2014 Global Slavery Index. The annual report presents an overview of the level of modern slavery that occurred in 167 countries. From the report, it was revealed that India ranks first in the number of populations experiencing modern slavery by more than 14 million people. However, when viewed from the percentage of the population, most cases of modern slavery is found in Mauritania, which is as much as 4%.

Governments in most countries that reported actually been quite responsive in taking action to end modern-day slavery in their respective countries. All countries, except North Korea, has had its own rules related to modern slavery. Unfortunately, there are still a number of countries that tend to focus only on a particular form of modern slavery. Modern forms of slavery are still there that has not received attention.
