In March 2012 Google introduced the Play Store, a proposal that sought to unify applications downloads in the Android Market with content for mobile devices in a single place. At that time the Internet company had 450 thousand applications.
Since then Google has come a long way and in the number eight anniversary of the platform said that the Play Store already has 1000 million active users from 190 countries. It is estimated that the Play Store have more than 2.7 million applications.
In addition to the applications, the company said it has a content catalog of 40 million songs, five million books and an unspecified amount of movies.
Predictably, the five most downloaded games on the platform were Candy Crush Saga, Subway Surfers, Temple Run 2, Despicable Me and Clash of Clans . Regarding the applications, the ranking is copied by the family of programs of Facebook with the official version to access to the social network, Facebook Messenger and Instagram, whereas in the third and fifth place are located Pandora Radio and Snapchat.
For the content section, the most downloaded song was Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud , while the album category is taken by Adele with 25. The Interview , starring James Franco and Seth Rogen, was Gray 's most downloaded film and 50 shades the most requested book from the Play Store.
The Apple Store
On the side of Apple, the great rival of Google, is the App Store, which has two million applications in its catalog and has recorded more than 130 billion downloads.
