Armed groups attacked in Mali

A group of gunmen attacked the Radisson Blu hotel in downtown Bamako, capital of Mali.



Two of them confine 140 hotel guests and 30 employees in a situation of 'hostage', said the owner of the hotel in their statement.

Police have surrounded the hotel, and the gunman shot while shouting 'Allahu Akbar!' according to security officials, as quoted by Reuters news agency.

The BBC reported Radisson Blu owned Serkat America was usually occupied by foreign workers who work in Mali.

A guest from China reported the news agency Xinhua via messages on his mobile phone application that there are several other Chinese citizens imprisoned there.

Security officer told the AFP news agency that the attack occurred on the seventh floor, and gunmen fired in the halls of the hotel.

Some reports said ten people were involved in this raid.

Rezidor Hotel Group -which has the Radisson Blu say they keep in contact with local authorities to offer all the support in order to restore safety and security in the hotel.

Last August, suspected Islamic militants attacked and killed 13 people, including five UN staff in a hostage in the center of Sevare in Mali. (bbc)
