Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata Dies

President and CEO of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata died of his cancer. According to the announcement of Nintendo, Iwata died at the age of 55 years, on Saturday (07/11/2015).


Although the issue of public health Iwata known to many, but the news of the death of Iwata remains a surprise to the gaming industry players and fans of Nintendo.

KompasTekno quoted from the BBC on Monday (7/13/2015), Iwata had undergone surgery last year and returned to work after recovery from surgery.

Iwata known to join the Japanese game company in 2000 and replaces the previous CEO, Hiroshi Yamauchi in 2002.

Iwata is known as a figure capable of restoring the success of Nintendo, especially in the realm of mobile gaming. Under his leadership, Iwata launched the Wii console are successful in the market, as well as the Nintendo DS for mobile gaming.

In the last 2014 years, Iwata along the tops of the leaders of the other Nintendo also had to give up his salary cut due to sales of the Nintendo console that does not meet the target.

Nintendo's Iwata also brought back the whole profit after losing money for four years. In the 2014 fiscal year ago Nintendo announced its profits as much as 208 million dollars or equivalent to Rp 2,7 trillion.

The figure shows a rapid growth after the previous year Nintendo lose 390 million US dollars or equivalent to Rp 5,1 trillion. Overall, this year's net profit of 350 million US dollars, or Rp 4,5 trillion.
