History Today | Piltdown Man Fraud

You know that today in 1912, Charles Dawson commit fraud through discovery 'Eoanthropus Dawsoni' or known Piltdown Man. Lies were uncovered in 1953.

Dawson initially claimed that he had discovered a hominid skull in Pitdown excavation area, in the area of Sussex, England. These findings are considered by the British as a key paleontological evidence of Darwin's theory, that there is a relationship between ape and man, because there is a section of bone that encloses the brain that are similar to humans and jaw shaped like an ape jaw.

But experts have trouble finding similarities between the discovery of Piltdown man hominids (the original) and other Piltdown Man was virtually been ignored by scholars around the year 1930. After a fluorine absorption test in 1949 and re-age dating of soil in Piltdown, Piltdown Man eventually expressed as a fraud on 21 November 1953.

There are two reasons why this fraud could last for 40 years. First, it satisfies the people of Europe that the earliest humans originated from Eurasia, and secondly, the British also wanted a "first man of England" after news of the discovery of early humans in France and Germany (Neanderthal Man). Jealousy is what causes the skull and jaw are stored and avoided false from the public eye.
