The hole in the Sun caused an unusual magnetic storm

Head of the Space Weather Center of the Institute of Terrestrial Magnetism, Ionosphere and Radio Wave Propagation. NV Pushkova, RAS (IZMIRAN) Sergey Gaidash told that an unusual magnetic storm began on the Earth, the cause of which was a hole in the Sun.

It should be noted that this storm has a small intensity and is not dangerous for people sensitive to such phenomena. But, nevertheless, the storm is of interest to scientists.

According to Gaidash, this storm is interesting primarily because it was not caused by flashes on the Sun, but by a coronal hole that runs vertically along the solar equator.

The magnetic storm began the day before and should be completed on March 24, when the Earth and the coronal hole on the surface of the Sun will part with the common straight line. And on March 29 and 30 another magnetic storm may start, which will cause another coronal hole, writes "FAN".
