Daimler accelerates the development of electric vehicles and is now planning 10 new models by 2022, rather than 2025

German carmaker Daimler AG, which includes Mercedes-Benz, was clearly conservative, when in the autumn of last year, spoke about the intention to release at least six electric models. This week, the automaker announced the development of electric vehicles program acceleration. Now they say about 10 new electric vehicles, which will be released by 2022. Originally scheduled for release the same 10 electric vehicles, but in 2025 . To implement these plans into reality the company will allocate investments worth € 10 billion.

According to the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Daimler, Manfred Bischoff, the company wants to turn the car market, which implies the need for Bole aggressive strategy.

What is the real reason that made the automotive giant to accelerate. Officially, this does not say, but there are a few obvious incentives. Firstly, it is a competition. Mercedes-Benz feels a lot of pressure, not only from the US the Tesla, but also by their German "colleagues in the shop." That is, be cautious in this case is not an option at all, because you can get where Kodak, Nokia and other companies, overheated in the glory. If the tilt market factors, there is another disturbing question of the manufacturer - the growing scale of the scandals associated with emissions CO 2 , and the growing pressure from the governments of various countries, aimed at reducing emissions. By the way, last year Mercedes-Benz for the first time in nine years, failed to reduce harmful emissions of their cars - an indicator of the average level of emissions of carbon dioxide per kilometer by the end of 2016 amounted to 123 g as in 2015.
