Terrifying moment climber is thrown from a wall of ice as it collapses into a frozen river

Terrifying moment climber is thrown from a wall of ice as it collapses into a frozen river beneath him --- The terrifying moment a climber is thrown from a hanging pillar of ice after it collapses into a frozen river below was caught on video in Switzerland. The brief clip begins with the unidentified climber using a set of pickaxes while sporting spiked shoes to try and safely navigate his way on the ice. As he slowly works his way around what appears to be a solid piece of ice attached to a mountain, the climber uses his pickaxes to pull himself up. For the first 50 seconds in the full version of the video, the man appears to be doing perfectly fine, as the ice didn't crack and looks as if it's completely solid. But during a series of blows to the ice with the pickaxe he's holding in his right hand, the ice shatters completely sending the entire huge piece crumbling below into what looks like a partially frozen river or stream. The climber was immediately thrown from the ice, but luckily a rope prevents him from taking a potentially deadly fall. He then swings around thanks to the safety rope hoisting him up, as the once-huge pillar of ice he had attempted to climb is now below him in ruins. It's unclear when or where exactly in Switzerland the video was recorded. But the people who joined him for the adventure could be heard in the background shouting with a mix of excitement and shock that the ice actually collapsed. | DailyMail
