Congress of the Catholic Church rejected gay marriage

The Roman Catholic Bishop of reaching a compromise in the synod on issues which are divisive. The doctrine of divorce has softened but the church's attitude toward homosexuality have not changed.



After the meeting ended Pope Francis appeared to criticize the conservative bishops.

The Church, he said, had to face difficult issues "without fear, without burying our heads in the sand".

In the synod, called for a meeting of Roman Catholic leaders, the bishops voted for 94 articles relating to how the church treats family.

The most controversial is the issue related to whether people who divorce and remarry can be allowed to play a full role in the church, or just cursory.

The manuscript was agreed to conduct a case-by-case approach.

Results of the meeting also reiterated the church's teaching that homosexuals should not be discriminated against but noted "there is absolutely no basis" for gay marriage.

In conclusion of the meeting for three weeks, Pope Francis said he wanted the conference was able to "listen to and make the voice of the family sound".

But he said the conference had "significantly relied on closed heart are often hidden even behind the church doctrine or good intentions", it appears as a description for the conservative attack.

He also acknowledged differences with the church, and said "what looks normal for a bishop in a continent can be considered strange and almost a scandal for a bishop from another place".

Manuscripts approved in the synod only as a guideline and Pope Francis must decide whether to continue or not.

Last year, Catholic synod also refused to discuss the proposal on gay widespread acceptance despite supported by Pope Francis, a decision that was welcomed disappointment of Catholic gay rights group.

In the opening of the synod of the year was overshadowed by the commotion a priest who announces that he has a relationship with fellow jenia. He was then fired from his job at the Vatican.

The Vatican has denied Italian media reports during the meeting of the bishops that the Pope Francis has a brain tumor. The Vatican has said the news was "really do not have the responsibility". (cnnindonesia)
