Today in History | 21-2-1965: Malcolm X Killed

Right on this day in 1965, the dark history occurred in the United States (US). The most famous Muslim leaders in the United States, Malcolm X was killed by a colleague in New York.


Malcolm was born with a full name Malcolm Little in Omaha, Nebraska in 1925. He was the son of James Earl Little.

Malcolm's father is a preacher who is quite outspoken and critical defense of Afro-America in his day. As a result of the James Earl had to accept the threat of radical groups whites US, the Ku Klux Klan.

In order to save their family, Earl moved his family to Lansing, Michigan. However, not long after moving from Nebraska, tragic events befall Earl.

Malcolm X's father was killed in tragic. Earl finished his life by other white radicals, Black Legion.

Post-incident Malcolm life is getting worse. The peak in 1937 when he became one of the students in Michigan himself expelled from school. Thus was launched from the History Channel, Saturday (02/21/2015).

After being expelled from school, Malcolm chose to move to Boston. In the city, delinquency Malcolm became increasingly he even involved in some criminal activity.

At the age of 21, Malcolm pay dearly all his actions. He was jailed for alleged robbery. However, in a place he never expected, Malcolm knew Islamic teachings of Elijah Muhammad.

Once out, he was selected to join the organization of Elijah Muhammad, the Nation of Islam. Not only that, after entering the group he added the last name X.

According to Malcolm, X behind his name symbolizes African identity which has long since disappeared. Go to the Nation of Islam, Malcolm X skyrocketed. He increasingly vocal chanting the rights of Afro-America.

However, the presence of Malcolm in the Nation of Islam did not last long, in 1963 he was officially out. After not with the Nation of Islam Malcolm chose to perform the pilgrimage.

Upon their return from the pilgrimage, he returned with a new name El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz. Together with the new name was Malcolm helped shape the brand-new organization of Afro-American Unity.

It did not take long, a new organization Malcolm immediately got a lot of members. The nature of the more moderate organization is suspected as the cause of why Afro-American Unity can develop very quickly.

However, in 1965 the life of Malcolm stopped. He was killed by members of the Nation of Islam when it is conducting a speech in New York.
