Dr. Christopher White (darpa)
Name Christopher White later widely heard in cyberspace. He is a program manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), who heads the project Memex, a search engine for Dark Web.
Memex actually stands for memory and index. This search engine can index (collect) information from the internet untouched by conventional search engines such as Google and Bing, the Dark Web.
Memex name itself is taken White from an article published in 1945 in The Atlantic, entitled "As We May Think ', as reported by detikINET of Upstart, Wednesday (02/18/2015).
The author of the article predicts a tool in the future, which could make users look for memory, and he thinks a suitable name for the device is Memex.
Before making Memex, White is the people who make and run another DARPA project called xdata, which is part of the Big Data initiative launched by Barack Obama.
He also is the maker of the Open Catalog, a tool that can organize and facilitate access to open source applications and publications funded by the US government.
Before becoming one of the researchers in the agency of the Department of Defense of the United States, White had been a special staff of the commander of NATO International Security Assistance Force. White also is a former boss of DARPA in Afghanistan.
After completing its work in Afghanistan, he became part of a team that received an award from Leon Panetta, who was then serving as secretary of defense. For his services as support staff in the battlefield, White was awarded the Joint Meritorious Unit Award.
