Al-Qaeda in Yemen claimed responsibility for the attack on Charlie Hebdo. They said it was in retaliation for showing cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.

In a video posted online on Wednesday, a man who is the supreme leader of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, Nasr ibn Ali al-Ansi, said the group planned and funded the attack on Charlie Hebdo, which killed 12 people.

"The battles are blessed in Paris, we, the Organization of Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula al-Jihad, claimed responsibility for these operations as revenge for the Prophet," said Nasser bin Ali al-Ansi.

Meanwhile, the first edition of Charlie Hebdo since the massacre at the office of the French satirical magazine was sold out quickly in France. On the other hand, criticism emerged from several countries against the Prophet Muhammad illustration on the cover.
