After Fitbit bought the mired in the problems of Pebble in November last year, began a long farewell to the manufacturer of the first successful smart hours. Also, the takeover of the company was the beginning of the end for its devices, heavily dependent on cloud services. But not everything is so bad: Pebble has released the final update, which frees the entire smart clock line from the synchronization servers and allows you to continue using gadgets with a mobile application after Fitbit turns off the cloud service.
How will this work?
The official Pebble blog reports that if the authentication server is unavailable, mobile applications will allow the clock to work on. The login process can be skipped, and applications and custom firmware can be installed through the same application.
IOS users can get an update through the App Store, and Android device owners can use the Pebble Beta. A fully updated Android application will be released on the Google Play Store later. Third-party developers who are still creating applications for doomed devices can add offline mode and a configurable application download configuration from other servers to their products. This is encouraging, as Pebble has not forgotten about its loyal users and gives them the opportunity to use smart watches in the future.
