OUR HOUSE...IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET This 18th century house has just three rooms and sits in the middle of a road junction – but could be yours for £110,000 *** THIS 18th century house has just three rooms and sits in the middle of a road junction — and it could be yours for £110,000. The Grade II listed former tollhouse has just three rooms – a hexagonal kitchen, a bedroom/living area upstairs and a small shower room – and only 258sq ft of space inside. The Round House is located on a triangle of grass measuring just 495 sq ft on the B3130 outside the village of Stanton Drew, Somerset, with roads surrounding it. Despite being in open countryside, the compact home does not even come with its own parking space, but there is a layby that can be used nearby. The kitchen has space for a small table and chairs, but only has a counter-top hob and no oven, while the sink doubles up for the bathroom, which only has space for a toilet and shower. The rooms make use of the windowsills to provide seating and upstairs there is space for a double bed and the high vaulted ceiling makes the space feel roomier. The Round House was built in the 18th century when the family who collected the toll money would have lived there. At the time there would have been a small hook on the outside of the house where a pouch would sit and coach drivers would pay their toll money. The thatched property is just a short walk from the village where there is a primary school, pub, church and village hall, with a supermarket, post office and bank in the neighbouring village of Chew Magna. | The Sun
