Leonardo DiCaprio will produce a film about the scandal emission Volkswagen (VW) but it is not clear whether he would also play a role in the film.

His company, Appian Way, and Paramount Pictures has bought the rights to a book that has not been published about the scandal, according to the Hollywood Reporter's website.

This well-known German car manufacturer last month admitted that 11 million diesel cars in the world comes with software that can 'manipulate' the emissions test.

United States Environmental Protection Agency, EPA, found the VW diesel cars sold in the country to have software that can detect when it is being tested and changed his appearance to improve test results.

VW chief executive, Martin Winterkorn, has resigned after the scandal was revealed.

Books about this scandal will be written by New York Times reporter, Jack Ewing, by digging morale VW 'more, better, faster' and how it plays a role in the scandal emissions.

DiCaprio has produced a number of documentaries on the environment, including in 2014, Cowspiracy: The Secret Sustainability and Virunga, about the struggle to protect mountain gorillas.

His environmental foundation also has contributed US $ 30 million since it was founded in 1998 and in 2013 he said he would send a team to the electronic car race, Formula E.
