Shooting on the coast of Tunisia, at least 27 people were killed

At least 27 people were killed in an attack on a tourist hotel in the coastal city of Sousse, Tunisia, on Friday (26/6).


Reported by Reuters, a spokesman for Tunisian Interior Ministry said the attack happened at the Imperial Marhaba Hotel. A total of six people were injured, but until now the details of the attack have not been revealed.

According to a source from the local authorities, the body of a gunman seen lying still holding a Kalashnikov rifle that he used in gunfire with police.

"An attacker opened fire with Kalashnikov toward tourists and residents of Tunisia on the beach near the hotel. Only one attacker, a young man wearing shorts like a tourist," said an employee of the hotel, quoted by Reuters, Friday (26/6) ,

Until now, no group has claimed responsibility for this attack, but the well-known militants often launch attacks on tourist spots in North Africa before.

Some militants frequently targeting foreign tourists, particularly from Western countries, because they have a lifestyle that is free, open, and often drink alcohol.

A tourist Women from Ireland, Elizabeth O'Brien, along with his two sons who stay in the hotel adjacent to the scene, said there was panic on the beach when gunfire suddenly erupted.

"I really thought it was fireworks, until I saw people running. I thought, God, this shooting. The waiters and security guards beach starts yelling, 'Run, run, run!'," Said O'Brien.

Sousse city is one of the city's most popular in Tunisia, offers tours of the beautiful beaches that attract tourists from Europe and other North African countries.

This attack is shocking the public, for being the second biggest attack for Tunisia this year, and occurs at the time of Ramadan, when the majority of Muslims in this country was running fast.

Previous similar attacks occurred in March, when a group of armed militants attacked the Bardo Museum in the capital Tunis. The attack killed a group of foreign tourists and touted as ne of the worst attacks in the last decade in the North African country.
