Geneva - The World Health Organization (WHO), Sunday (19/4), said the cause of the mysterious deaths in a small village in Nigeria is pesticide poisoning.
"The current hypothesis is the cause of the mysterious death is herbsida," said Gergory Hartl, WHO spokesman, in his Twitter account.
"A number of tests performed on patients yan prove negative viral and bacterial infections," he continued.
Mysterious disease appeared in Ode-Irele, a small town in the state of Ondo, Nigeria, killing 18 people. All victims suffered the same symptoms; headache, blurred vision, unconscious, weight loss, and died within 24 hours.
Being miserius because there are no signs of Ebola to the region, Kayode Akinmade, a spokesman for the state of Ondo, said the mysterious death prompting fears of many people.
Dayo Adenyanju, Ondo state health commissioner, said 23 people suffered similar symptoms. He also said health officials and experts from the federal government has arrived in Ode-Irele.
