Alien: Covenant first poster brings back terrifying face and new release date

The first poster for Alien: Covenant has been released, and it’s bringing back the classic Xenomorph noggin we’ve all come to fear. While we’ve had small visual teasers and images showing Katherine Waterston’s character Daniels nestled in hyper sleep, an official poster has finally dropped for Ridley Scott’s long-awaited sequel to 2012’s Prometheus. Basically, if you have vivid 80s memories crying for protection from Sigourney Weaver between the sheets, you should probably look away now. The poster, which is wonderfully – and creepily – captioned with a simple ‘Run’, also reveals the release date has been pushed forward from August to May 19, 2017 in the US. Directed by Ridley Scott, Alien: Covenant is the second film in a planned prequel trilogy and sees Michael Fassbender return as David as well as another new android named Walter. The film is also set to star Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, Callie Hernandez and Billy Crudup, with Noomi Rapace also returning as Dr. Elizabeth Shaw. Fassbender has previously teased how it’ll be a much darker beast in comparison to Prometheus, and how we can expect a return of the iconic chest-bursting sequences of the original. No official UK release date has been confirmed for Alien: Covenant, but we can probably expect it to land within the same month. | Metro News
