Ahead of Yom Kippur, Israel restricts Muslim prayers at Al-Aqsa

 JERUSALEM -- Israel restrict Muslims who want to pray at the Aqsa Mosque, ahead of the Jewish national holidays, Yom Kippur, Monday (21/9).



As reported by Maan news Israeli soldiers evict Palestinians from Al Aqsa since the afternoon and closed all gates except the three doors. They just open the gates of the chain, Hutta and Al-Majlis.

Director of the Islamic Waqf in Jerusalem Azzam al-Khatib said that only men over the age of 50 years are permitted to enter the mosque. While the woman is absolutely forbidden to worship in the mosque.

Al Khatib denounced the restrictions and closing the gate carried out by Israel. He did not know when the end of this restriction.

Israeli police said thousands of officers were deployed in Jerusalem to keep ahead of Yom Kippur and Eid al-Adha. Activity Yom Kippur begins Tuesday night to Wednesday night.

Yom Kippur is a day sacred to Jews. Jews make it as a day of penance. Thousands of Jews are believed to visit the Western Wall. Not only that, believed Jewish tourists will also visit Al-Aqsa, areas considered them as Sacred Temple of Solomon.
