Xbox One: A virtual reality helmet for 2018

Microsoft has just announced the arrival of a virtual reality helmet dedicated to the Xbox for next year. An exclusivity certainly reserved for the Scorpio.

While the small world of console consoles has just landed a little news with the Nintendo Switch, Sony and Microsoft are engaged in a frantic battle to power with the PS4 Pro and the Xbox Scorpio.

One of the major issues in the future of these "new" consoles (Switch aside) will most certainly be that of virtual reality. If Sony knew how to draw the first with the PS VR, Microsoft seems ready to retaliate.

A RV helmet reserved for the Scorpio?

It was via a note published on Microsoft's official blog that Alex Kipman announced the news. The technician says that this reality helmet should be available for the year 2018 without indicating an official release date. To accelerate the development process, Microsoft has certainly leveraged its experience with the Hololens.

The Redmond firm employee also did not give any precision on the consoles compatible with this headset, although it indicates that Microsoft's plan is "to bring virtual reality on home devices, including Xbox Scorpio " . It may therefore be that this VR headset is available only on the most powerful iteration of the console.

Boost sales

This choice would be both technical and strategic on the part of Microsoft. As we have seen with the PS VR, considerable firepower is needed to provide an undegraded virtual reality experience. The Xbox Scorpio would thus make it possible to draw the quintessence of this helmet of virtual reality made in Redmond.

Moreover, to reserve this helmet with the Scorpio would make the powerful version of the Xbox much more exclusive if it was the only one to propose this new helmet.
