THE MOST POWERFUL AND FASTEST HONDA SOLD IN NORTH AMERICA


The Civic Type R has long been the forbidden fruit of Honda performance car enthusiasts, but the wait is now almost over: the world's first and most powerful Honda ever sold in North America took place today At the Geneva Motor Show 2017 when the Japanese manufacturer lifted the veil on the new Type R in its standard version.


His next stop will be at the New York Auto Show on April 12th. It will then go on sale in Canada in late spring.

Performance enthusiasts will not be disappointed

Based on the Civic Hatchback , the Honda Civic Type R 2017 has been extensively modified and improved, including several components tested on the Nürburgring circuit. It operates a 2.0-liter direct-injection turbocharged i-VTEC engine that develops 306 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 295 lb.-ft. of torque from 2,500 to 4,500 rpm, placing it directly in Competition with the Subaru WRX STI and Ford Focus RS. Its close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission includes a speed-match function for downshifts.

The chassis of the Honda Civic Type R takes advantage of the work done with the Civic 10 th generation, but stands out with springs and dampers exclusive, new front suspension with double axis (which reduces torque steer and improves handling A new 4-wheel adaptive suspension, an adaptive electric power steering system with new settings, and a helical-type limited slip differential. The 20-inch alloy wheels are wrapped with Continental ContiSportContact 6 (245 / 30R20) performance tires, while the brakes consist of 4-piston Brembo calipers with 350 mm ventilated discs at the front and solid discs Of 305 millimeters at the rear.

Three driving modes are available - Comfort, Sport (default) and + R - to vary accelerator and steering response, gearbox parameters, anti-skid and adaptive shock absorbers.

What about the cockpit? 

The only version on the menu will come fully equipped: sport seats with prominent side supports, steering wheel and shifter leather shift, sport shifter and pedals in aluminum, red Type R indicator for driver and number plate on center console . Expect also to find many gadgets such as a 7-inch touchscreen multimedia screen, navigation system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a 540-watt 12-speaker sound system.

The Honda Civic Type R 2017 will be manufactured in Swindon, England (with a 2.0-liter turbo engine assembled in Ohio). The price and other equipment details will be announced as the sale proceeds.
