USS Kitty Hawk mechanic pulls off amazing feat after being flown away by jet engine

That's plane daft: Incredible moment a mechanic deliberately gets caught in a jet exhaust so he is blasted 150 feet along the deck of an aircraft carrier *** This mechanic was blasted 150 feet backwards after he got caught in the exhaust of a military jet. The man had been checking the EA-6B Prowler before it took off from the USS Kitty Hawk when he gave the thumbs up for it to take off. But as the jet sped off from the landing strip, he was picked up by the current of air and sent rolling backwards along the deck. Fortunately, the incident was all just a trick that the mechanic pulled off as a farewell stunt. When he managed to get back onto his feet, he put his arms above his head in celebration. The dramatic footage was filmed several years ago but recently uploaded onto Reddit. There, an airman explained that the mechanic was transferring off USS Kitty Hawk so wanted to pull off the feat before he left. Mechanics are not usually swept down deck because the engines on the EA-6B Prowler are located high up on the aircraft. Also, they can secure themselves against any movement by holding onto the metal hook that holds the chains used to secure the aircraft. EA-6B Prowlers were withdrawn from US Navy Service in June 2015. They were used to jam electronic equipment to stop enemy forces communicating. Along with one pilot, they had three other crew whose job it was to work the jamming equipment. | Daily Mail Online
