South African tortoises battle it out at safari park during a hilarious fight video

Mar-shell arts: Tortoises battle it out at safari park during a hilarious (if not particularly brutal) fight video *** Tortoises battle it out at a safari park during a hilarious fight video. Out of all the species in the South African wilderness, tortoises are the last animals you would imagine to clash. But a video captured at Djuma Private Game Reserve shows just that. Two tortoises, likely to be males, are seen fighting along a mound of dirt and in between long grass as one tries to flip the other onto its shell. One of the pair is seen repeatedly trying to lodge its head under its rival's body and uses its strength to try and knock its enemy over. Captured by the #SafariLive team, the video has been watched over 41,400 times. While many people would be shocked to see tortoises acting in such an aggressive manner, such behaviour is not uncommon because they are known to be a very territorial breed. Male tortoises often clash over land and can often use vicious tactics to win their battles. They are also known to cause injury and stress to females. | Daily Mail Online
