The sparks come dangerously close to a baby’s pram after a short-circuit was caused in the man’s pocket from the spare lithium-ion batteries. The man can be seen standing quietly by the pram in front of a Boots store in Trinity Shopping Centre in Leeds before the explosion, with the terrified man quickly lifting up his arms and running as his jacket begins to smoke. Bright sparks then fly out of his left pocket as shocked witnesses watch on with horror. The frightening footage was taken just after 2.30pm on September 19 - with fire crews now issuing a stark warning to the public about how to safely store batteries. West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) warned that the man's spare lithium-ion batteries for his e-cigarette had been loose in his pocket with a short circuit caused. They said they believed that one of the batteries had come into contact with a metal item also in his pocket, which may have been keys or coins. Crews also said that it was possible that two batteries shorted on one another. The man suffered minor injuries and needed first aid treatment. | The Sun
