Shocking moment a petrol station worker, 46, is mowed down on the forecourt as she tries to stop two men fleeing without paying *** This CCTV footage captures the shocking moment a petrol station worker was mowed down by a driver as he fled without paying for fuel. Michelle Carr, 46, was thrown over the bonnet as she tried to stop the motorist from leaving the Jet service station in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, yesterday afternoon. The driver had reportedly been filling up empty petrol barrels with fuel and drove into Ms Carr as she approached his silver Mazda in the forecourt to confront him. Petrol station manager Debi Beardshall said Ms Carr was left bruised and in pain following the incident but suffered no serious injuries. Footage of the incident shows the driver, who has not been named, turning wildly into the petrol station and pulling up at a pump. He picks up the fuel nozzle and spends several minutes apparently filling up his car. However Ms Carr spotted drums at the back of the vehicle and said the driver had been filling those up instead, Ms Beardshall said. Apparently noticing Ms Carr leaving the shop, the driver quickly returns to the front seat and puts his foot down on the accelerator. Ms Carr continues towards the car but the motorist does not slow, ploughing straight into the petrol station employee. Ms Carr instinctively holds up her hands and strikes the bonnet of the car before being rolled off and on to the ground. Ms Beardshall said she believed this saved her friend from being dragged underneath the car. The footage, which was posted on Facebook, has been viewed nearly 100,000 times by shocked users in an attempt to find the culprit. The incident has been reported to South Yorkshire Police who are investigating. | Daily Mail Online
