Increased risk of Internet attacks on nuclear plants

The risk of Internet attacks on nuclear power plants around the world is increasing, as warned a report.



The report published by the British think tank, Chatham House, said civilian nuclear facilities in many countries are not ready to endure from Internet attacks.

Many of its control system has a design 'unsafe' because of the age of the nuclear facility.

Internet crime - backed by the state and terrorists are increasingly making the higher the risk.

According to the report, small-scale nuclear attack on nuclear facilities may have significant effects on 'public opinion' and the future of the nuclear industry.

In the UK mentioned the nuclear plant and supporting facilities are not adequately protected because it had just converted to a digital system in recent years.

But Keith Parker, chairman of the British Nuclear Industry Association, asserted, "Security, including internet security, is clearly a priority for power plant operators."

According to the industry regulator constantly supervising the safety of nuclear power plants to protect them from outside threats.
