Letter of Rejection Free Internet Facebook

Jakarta - Fronted internet.org project founder and CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, opposition. Not only from Indonesia but also by a variety of civil society in different parts of the world.



In an open letter to Mark Zuckerberg related internet.org, internet neutrality, privacy and security, all parties joined in this rejection agreed to ask Facebook to stop initiation Internet.org program.

After MCIT Rudiantara and Chairman of the Indonesian Infocom Society (Mastel) Kristono expressed less agree with this program, ICT Watch also expressed objections to a free internet program from Facebook.

They are not alone. Some agencies of other countries also voiced the same thing. For example, the Popular Resistance and Roots Action.org of the United States, OpenMedia of Canada, Bits of Freedom of the Netherlands, Xnet from Spain, The Heliopolis Institute of Egypt, and many more.

There are various reasons behind the rejection expressed by these institutions. One of the main reasons, Internet.org violating neutral internet or commonly known as net neutrality.

The institutions stated, the internet should be maintained as an open platform. Network operators should treat all content in cyberspace equally, without discrimination.

As is known, some time ago, Facebook, in collaboration with Indosat, has released Internet.org program in Indonesia. Within the program, Indosat users can access multiple sites and specific services for free.

Well, according to the institutions of the world, the site can be accessed free of charge should not be restricted. All must apply impartially and have the same opportunity.
